A Fresh Start & A Rhythm of Place Update

ree

Over the past few weeks I’ve been rebuilding parts of this website—not just to clean up the layout, but to make it better reflect the kind of work I’m creating now. When I first set everything up, my focus was mostly on street photography as individual images. Since then, my approach has shifted. My work has become more documentary, more project-driven, and more connected to the places I spend my time here in Japan.

So the site is getting a reset.

The new layout is centered around the projects that are shaping my photography today, especially Rhythm of Place. Instead of scattering images across different galleries, I’m pulling things into a clearer structure: the projects, the stories, and the ongoing work that ties everything together. This makes a lot more sense for how I shoot now—less about one-off images and more about building something with context and intent.

Rhythm of Place: Where Things Stand

Right now, Rhythm of Place is the project taking up most of my energy. I’ve been documenting both the stillness of the streets and the intensity of the local music scenes across Misawa, Hachinohe, and Tokyo. So far I’ve shot over a dozen rolls across multiple venues and neighborhoods, and what started as a simple idea has already grown into something much larger.

Local musicians have started inviting me out to photograph their sets, which has opened up a lot of new opportunities—and a lot more film running through my cameras than expected. I finished a small proof-of-concept zine to help define the visual direction, and some of those images will make their way into the final work.

There’s still plenty left to shoot, including more night work and live venues in Towada and Aomori, but the foundation is solid. The project is finally starting to look like the long-term documentary piece I hoped it would become.

What’s Next

Over the next few weeks, you’ll see:

  • updated project pages with better organization

  • cleaner galleries focused on narrative, not volume

  • a more direct introduction that reflects where my work is now

  • continued updates from Rhythm of Place—both the shooting and the process behind it

If you’ve been following along, thanks for sticking with me. This refresh is long overdue, and it feels good to finally get the site aligned with the direction my photography has taken.

More to come soon—both on the site and out on the streets. Download the digital proof-of-concept zine for Rhythm of Place here:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iweXW-VxHtzfJbgvkcVts10xWyApGBA_/view?usp=drive_link

Thank you again to everyone who’s been supporting me through this. It means a lot, and it’s helping me keep this project moving forward.
